7 Benefits of Dance Based Exercise

There are many benefits to dance based exercise and below I talk about seven of these. Maybe after reading them you’ll be convinced dancing is for you, even if it is just a good excuse to get up and jump around a little. Enjoy!
- Stay Active
Probably the first thing people think about when they hear dance is that they will be moving, and it’s true. By dancing you remain active not only with your bodies, but your brain as well. That is why dance is great for all ages young and the young at heart ;-).
- Improved Posture and Body Awareness
You will inevitably develop better posture and will start to learn more ways on how you can move your body. Not to mention improved balance overall. Win…for putting on shoes without having to sit down ;-).
- Strength and Flexibility
Dance teaches you proper ways of stretching and strengthening your muscles. This means your joints and sometimes muscles you didn’t know you had remain healthy and happy.
- Socialize
Joining a weekly dance class with friends or family members or simply trying a new hobby gives you another platform to socialize. Oftentimes by joining a new group you will get to meet new people and expand your community. It also works great if you recently moved to the area or are just visiting for some time.
- Reduced Stress
Taking time out of your busy, hectic life to have time for yourself will automatically help you reduce your stress levels. Bonus to that is by exercising you will release endorphins and feel amazing!
- Increase Self-Esteem and Confidence
Putting on those tights definitely screams confidence, add awesome moves to that and you will be an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. In all seriousness, dancing will help you increase your confidence and self-esteem by proving the safe space for you to try something, practice, and get better at it each time!
- Creative outlet
Motivating yourself to dance gives you a safe space for you to express yourself creatively and let your personality shine.
So let’s dance!
